Under the United Nations framework, over two decades have passed with initiatives and policy development to support women. However, women’s participation in all levels of decision-making lags due to structural barriers and a lack of access to political arenas.
With this in mind, LATO hopes to contribute to the lacking knowledge, understanding and academic discourse on women, peace and security in the international arena, the Baltics and Latvia more specifically.
The aim of the research is to publish a series of articles which can pinpoint, analyse and evaluate the most relevant challenges related to women, peace and security. Furthermore, the publication series would indicate recommendations and detailed courses of action on how the policy field can be improved in Latvia and the Baltics by analysing best practices on a global scale.
