Chairwoman of the Board of LATO Žaneta Ozoliņa on the Global Peace Index in the broadcast “Afternoon”

On June 29, Chairwoman of the Board of the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation, Professor Žaneta Ozoliņa, gave an interview on the Global Peace Index in the radio broadcast “Afternoon” (“Pēcpusdiena”). Global peace has deteriorated over the last year, and this is the fourth time in the last five years that the world has witnessed a decline in peace, with Covid19 affecting Europe to face an increase in civilian unrest, said the latest report by the Global Peace Index.

This year‘s results show that the world‘s peace rate has deteriorated and the national average has fallen by 0.34 percent in the index. This is the ninth sign of the deterioration of peace in the last twelve years. In 81 countries, peace rates have improved, while last year the situation has deteriorated in 80 countries around the world.
