A coalition of Latvian NGOs for support of Georgia has been founded

Today, on August 13, 2008, thirteen representatives of Latvian NGOs pronounced the foundation of “Latvian NGO coalition for the support of Georgia” which main goal is to ensure active and coordinated political support and humanitarian aid to Georgia.

Latvian and Georgian youth have called for PEACE in United Georgia

Latvian Transatlantic organisation, supported by Georgian NGOs and youth, called for peaceful conflict resolution by releasing 2008 balloons on June 6 on Abkhazian border. The campaign took place by the bridge over the river Inguri that separates Abkhazia from the rest of Georgia, right by the peacekeeper checkpoints.

Visit to NATO HQ of Latvian opinion leaders

On June 2-3, 2008 LATO Secretary General Sandis Šrāders took part in the visit of Baltic opinion leaders to NATO HQ, where participants from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania together with representatives of NATO discussed current issues of international relations and security. The visit was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and NATO.

Debates about NATO at the Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Ukraine

On April 22-24, 2008 LATO was invited by Christian Democratic Youth Union of Ukraine  and Ukrainian NGO Institute for European Advancement to share its knowledge about Latvia’s way to NATO and perception of the Alliance by Latvian youth with students and lecturers of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University located in Luhansk, Eastern Ukraine.
