And the winners of the competition „NATO 60 years experience – quo vadis?” are …..

The first round of competition organised by the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs has finished and after a week of evaluation the authors (teams) of the best 26 teams are now known.

Essays about the military and political aspects of NATO, as well as Latvia’s five year experience as a member state of NATO were sent from all over the Latvia and both universities (university of Latvia, Riga Technical University, Vidzeme University College, Ventspils University College, Latvia University of Agriculture, Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, Baltic International Academy) and secondary schools – Riga 34.secondary schools, Liepāja 1.secondary school, Jaunpiebalga secondary school and Jelgavas Spīdolas secondary school.

The evaluation commission was composed of representatives of LATO, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence. The essays were judged in accordance with the criteria set in competition regulations and thus best 26 teams were identified. These teams will participate the second round of the competition – NATO summit simulation game on March 27th.

Based on the time the essay was received and matching it with the alphabetical list of NATO member states each team will represent a following state :
